Eberron is a place of very mature Magic, it is found in almost everything. To the people of Eberron magic is more science than fantasy. From the lightning Rail to the elemental powered airships magic is highly visible everywhere. One of the important things to know about the setting is that on the main continent of Korvaire, where you will be starting, the rules of law and the land are carried out by the individual countries each with it’s own ruling powers but the economic laws and rules are enforced by the Dragonmarked houses. There are 12 Dragonmarked houses remaining in existence. These houses have no allegiance to a single government and control much of the commerce in the world. These houses are the true powers of Eberron and while the governments might not admit it they hold the real power over the continent of Khorvaire. The most significant events in Khorvaire recently are the Last War and the Mourning. The Mourning destroyed the country of Cyre and ended The Last War. No one knows what caused the Mourning but the threat that it could happen again has kept an uneasy peace.
